Beautiful Faces

Growing up, I was definitely drawn towards images of beauty I could identify with; those with dark, exotic features. I would marvel at these beauties and hope to one day grow up to look just them. Even now, it's nice to see magazines and movies with more than just your average, all American blond haired, blue eyed beauty. This is such a puff post, but I wanted to share some of my favorites. Maybe some of you will enjoy them too.

Heddy Lamar ~ My favorite movie that she was in was Cecil B. DeMille's 1949 classic Samson and Delilah.

Vivien Leigh ~ My favorite movies that she starred in were Gone With The Wind, and A Streetcar Named Desire. It still amazes me how much she and Heddy Lamar look alike.

Elizabeth Taylor ~ I loved her as Amy in the 1949 version of Little Women, and as Angela in A Place in the Sun.

Ava Gardner ~ She was stunning as Julie in Show Boat, but my all time favorite was her role as Maria in The Barefoot Contessa.

Natalie Wood~ This is a hard one. I loved her in Westside Story, Gypsy, and as Deanie in Splendor in the Grass.

Phoebe Cates ~ Loved her in Shag the Movie and in Lace.

Selma Hayek ~ I loved her in the romantic comedy Fools Rush In.

Kate Beckinsale ~ She actually played Ava Gardner in The Aviator opposite Leo Di Caprio. But, my favorite movie she played in was Pearl Harbor.

Catherine Zeta Jones ~ I liked her in Ocean's Twelve, Traffic, Chicago and as Catherine II in Catherine The Great.

I'd love for this to be a tag and for anyone who reads this to do one for their page. This is not based on acting ability. I could do a whole separate post on favorites in that category. Please play along and make it fun. ~Blessings!

I'm going to do this once I get a good list together :o) Splendor in the Grass and A Place in the Sun are AMAZING. I'm going to rent them again, thanks for reminding me. Also, I see some new ones I need to watch. Great idea for a post!

Great post, even though I am blond! LOL!

I love the back and whites, just gorgeous. Isn't it amazing how yesterday's actresses were so much more classy than most of today's (not all but most)?!

Blessings!

Oooh! What fun! It was great to remember happy and younger times watching old movies! I thought also of Audrey Hepburn, and like Catherine Zeta Jones also. She was in a movie with Sean Connery (who I ADORE) and I really liked it very much! I can't think of the name of the movie though...

I am not familier with the first actress you named - but she was so lovely!

I might do a similar post soon, I am thinking....:)

Lovely!

I love old movies...especially ones with Audrey Hepburn and Katherine Hepburn! :)

Thanks for your sweet comment. I still want to try and go around and do some bloggy reading from time to time. I just know it is time for me to step away from posting.

Blessings, sweet Tiffany! :)

I love watching old movies :) I think it is so funny (and sad) how our vision of beauty has changed. Those women had real bodies and read faces!! They were beautiful but didn't look plastic!

I adore classic movies! The people were beautiful and so were many of the characters they played.

I always wanted to be Grace Kelly- beautiful, cool, graceful, and classy. Imagine my disappointment to discover that I was really more Gidget than Grace. It was a crushing blow. :o)
