The Gone With The Wind Ball!

Welcome One And All, To Attend Our Gone With The Wind Ball!
You are cordially invited to attend our 70th year celebration of the movie, Gone With The Wind. Our gracious hostess is Nikki from The Scarlett Rose Garden.
I love this movie. It is by far one of my all time favorites, for many different reasons. I love the chemistry between Rhett and Scarlett. I love kindness and gentle feminity of Melanie Hamilton Wilkes. I love Mammy's sassy wit and way about her. I love the costumes and sets and music. So, in honor of this event, I've gathered a few of my favorites for the party! So, let's take a little trip down the Mississippi to the deep south that I love.
Let's start with Tara. "You get your strength from this red earth of tara, Scarlett. You're a part of it and it's a part of you." -Rhett Butler
There was a land of Cavaliers and cotton Fields called the Old South...Here in this pretty world gallantry took it's last bow. Here was there last ever to be seen of Knights and their ladies fair...
Sarlett and all her many beaus. What a grand picnic at Twelve Oaks.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Scarlett and Rhett. Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh had such good chemistry.
And what a beautiful little girl they had. -Miss Bonnie Blue Butler. What a pampered princess she was. She was very spoiled, but, she was very loved.
As was Scarlett, by her own parents.I love how Family, Land and Southen culture are very strong themes through out this story.
"To anyone with a drop of Irish blood in them, why the land they live on is like their mother...it'll come to you this love of the land. There's no getting away from it if you're Irish."

Melanie is the true heroin of this story in my eyes. She was the family and friend that kept everyone together. She was honest, courageous, kind and loyal to thoes she loved.
"There's just too much honor in her to ever conceive of dishonor in anyone she loves. " -Rhett

"Now we are really and truly sisters!"

Christmas with Family!

"Mammy's a smart ole soul and one of the few people I know whose respect I'd like to have." -Rhett

I'm so glad Hattie McDaniel won an Oscar for her portral of Mammy. She was fabulous!

I am in love with old plantations homes. The beauty of the architecture, the staircases, the crown moldings and chandeliers, the landscaping, it's all so breath taking. here are some of my favorites from the film.

A Happy Rhett and Scarlett.......
Here are a few facts about the movie and book...

You could buy the book for $3.00 in 1936.

The ticket price of the movie in 1939 was $0.75 for the afternoon showing and $1.00 for the evening showing.

I hope you have enjoyed my tribute to the book and movie. "Gone With the Wind" has a special place in my heart, because my mom was reading it in the hospital right before and after she gave birth to me. I have decided for the 70th Anniversary to read the book for myself. I haven't gotten very far, but "tommorrow is another day."

Wonderful tribute! You know, I never realized that Olivia was shorter than Viv... and I beleive Viv was only 5'2" so Olivia must be extremely petite. Unless it's a shoe thing. I'm going to have to watch closely at the other sceens now, LOL!
Great quotes too.
I'm still making my rounds.. I might have to go to bed after this one tho!
Thank you so much for attending, it was nice having you!

So interesting to learn the prices of things then--$3 for the book and 75 cents to see the movie! Love these beautiful photos you got from the film. GWTW is one of my all-time favorites! :-)

What a wonderful collection of pictures from the film, really showing some fantastic details and the architecture.

All combined with some of the better lines and concepts in the film.

And combined with the music this made for a great post!

Oh Tiffany! What a beautiful post!
I know it took a great deal of time and care to create it. Your photos are so beautiful! I loved every moment of visiting here.

I saw the movie when I was a teenager (I should tell that story in my next post) and read the book much later. I love both! What a grand movie it was!!

Thanks for the fun time!
Big hugs, Sherry

Tiffany, I got online early to see if there were any comments on my posts or any new posts for the GWTW Ball. I was delighted to read yours!!! All the beautiful scenes from the movie, some no one else have used. The scene from the Atlanta Ball was almost ethereal! Thank you for your outstanding post, like you I also want to read the book! I have been hand quilting a lot of hours and my hands and wrists are in need of some rest, so reading may just be what I need right now.
Tiffany, you are a delightful young woman and thank you again for your beautiful rendition of GWTW!!!
